If your skin has been affected by the sun, age or acne, you may want to try a technique called resurfacing to make your skin look smoother. Most resurfacing techniques are done medically using chemicals, but you can resurface your skin naturally by regularly exfoliating. By combining a weekly mask with daily exfoliation and a natural moisturizer, you can attain a smooth and balanced complexion. But it's always wise to speak with your dermatologist before using home remedies for your skin.

Mix 1 teaspoon of both turmeric powder and sandalwood powder with a small amount of water until it forms a paste. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory and can help calm troubled or sensitive areas of your skin. Sandalwood helps reduce tension and anxiety, helping to improve wrinkles in the skin.

2

Apply the paste to your face and allow it to dry for 45 minutes.

3

Remove the paste from your face with warm water and a wash cloth.

4

Apply this mask weekly for best results.

Daily Exfoliation1

Mix 1 tablespoon of sugar with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. The sugar gives the homemade exfoliant the ability to remove dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, making it appear more even and smooth. Sugar is also gentler than salt, which makes it safe to use on your face. The olive oil helps keep the sugar together making it easier to spread onto your skin. Olive oil also helps condition skin in the process of exfoliation.

2

Rub the sugar and olive oil mixture gently onto your face, neck and other areas of concern.

3

Rinse your skin with warm water and pat dry with a towel.

4

Exfoliate your skin daily with this recipe.

Moisturize1

Apply natural oils to your skin for moisture daily after your mask or exfoliation. For oily skin, use sunflower oil, for dry skin use sesame oil, and for normal skin use corn oil. Apply a very small amount evenly to your skin.

Tips & Warnings

Turmeric may stain clothing, so be careful when preparing your weekly mask.
