Makeup Tips to Get a Sun-Kissed Glow

Correctly applied makeup can radiate warmth and sunshine.

Flag this photo

Skin that appears to be sun-kissed is often radiant, glowing and healthy. Achieving this look with skillfully applied makeup is an inexpensive way to get the look without damaging your skin with harmful UVA and UVB rays. Giving yourself an instant makeup makeover with a golden sheen can give you confidence and a spring in your step, even if you have not set foot on a beach. Whether you choose to use cream, powder or shimmery makeup, a natural dewy, summery look can be yours.

In order to have a smooth palette to work with, evening out your skin tone with foundation is essential. Use a makeup sponge to apply a light amount of your regular foundation, being careful to blend at the jaw line, temples and forehead. You may also choose to use a foundation that has a hint of gold sparkle to warm up your face and provide some iridescent shimmer in one easy step.

Bronzer

Artfully applied bronzer will make you appear to have glowing skin. If you are judicious with your bronzer application, you skin will look richer without the dreaded orange-tinted skin tone. To achieve a flawless bronzed look, apply bronzer in two arcs on either side of your face. Brush one arc of bronzer from your chin to just below your cheekbone, with the apex of the ark brushing your ear. The second arc should sweep from the cheekbone, around the outer corner of the eye and up to the forehead.

Highlighting

Applying a loose, iridescent highlighter powder is nearly foolproof because it will enhance your skin tone without worrying about blending a colored foundation. Simply sweep highlighter below the brow bone, around the outer corner of the eye, and apply a minimal amount to the forehead, nose and chin. If you apply too much in the forehead, nose and chin areas, you run the risk of looking too shimmery and therefore less natural.

Blush

Blush can be so much more than just a way to highlight your cheeks. It can also serve as a way to alter your skin tone and make it warmer and richer. Choose a blush that has a mauve or golden honey tone, and sweep it onto your cheekbones. Cream blushes work best, but a liquid blush also is acceptable. Be wary of liquid blush. If it is allowed to sit for a long period before blending, it may appear spotty and uneven. Cream blush also can be blended around the upper forehead and temples to give you a sun-kissed glow that appears to come from within.

How to do a Makeup Artist Photo Release

Present the best examples of your work at the photo release.

Flag this photo

A photo release is one of the most effective job advancement tools for makeup artists, as it helps them reach a wider audience of clients and employers by demonstrating their skills. Since makeup is a visual art, there is no use explaining your skills in writing, as employers and clients need visual proof to be convinced of your work. However, a sloppy, low-quality photo release can ruin your career opportunities, so you must be extra careful when compiling your work.

Related Searches:Difficulty:ModerateInstructions 1

Prepare photo release forms and send them to people included in your photo release. Each form must include your details and a plain-language script explaining the specific use you are willing to make of the pictures. If you fail to get a person's written consent before including his picture in your release, you can get in legal trouble, as these pictures are used for "commercial gain."

2

Determine the pictures best exhibiting the quality and diversity of your work. Avoid using unsharp or poorly lit photographs or several images of the same type of makeup. Using pictures of well-known actors or presenters with whom you have worked demonstrates your credentials as a makeup artist with serious experience. If the photo release is focused on a specific event, a sole theatrical play for example, use the best pictures of that performance.

3

Set the order of the pictures in your photo release. The main pictures must be exceptional, as far as makeup and photo quality. Again, using examples of your work with well-known actors and presenters can instantly draw the attention of viewers.

4

Create your own website to upload your work. The advantage of an online photo release, compared to the traditional photo book, is that it is easy for potential clients and employers to access. In addition, in online photo releases, viewership is not limited to people to whom you have sent the release.

5

Contact Internet service providers to set up your own website, with an address corresponding to your name. Also, if you don't plan to update your photo release regularly, hiring a Web developer to set up your page is an important decision. Avoid uploading your photo release to a blog: apart from the inability to edit the page layout as you wish, a blog will look amateurish and may discourage employers and clients.

6

Enter your contact details on the photo release to allow impressed viewers to come in contact with you directly.

Tips & Warnings

Just because your photo release is publicly available on the Internet and can be found with the use of search engines does not meant you don't have to promote it. Especially when you are looking for employment, send a short cover letter, along with your resume and photo release website address.

Makeup Tips for Drooping Eyelids

Matte shadows, neutral colors and subtle eyeliner work best for mature eyes.

Flag this photo

As people age, the skin loses collagen and elastin, which causes it to deflate and droop. The eye area is especially prone to signs of aging, as the skin around the eyes is thinner and has fewer oil glands. This can make it difficult to figure out a daily makeup regimen that will still highlight one's best attributes without highlighting those signs of aging. However, modern makeup techniques make it easier to doll up even the droopiest eyes.

Related Searches: Use an Eye Shadow Base

Eye shadow base is a wonderful product for anyone, but it is essential for more mature women. Spread a thin layer of this creamy product evenly over the lids using the finger or a concealer brush. This will create an even base for applying powder eye shadow. The base helps shadows to stay put all day, reducing fading and creasing. It also keeps shadow from settling into lines and wrinkles.

Avoid Shimmer and Bright Colors

While shimmer and glitter may brighten the eyes, they also tend to exaggerate flaws in the eyelids such as lines, wrinkles and droopiness. Matte eye shadow is more natural looking and is complementary to mature women. Neutral colors, such as browns, beiges and creams, work great for everyone. Color is best when used sparingly and in more subtle shades.

Go Light With Liner

Thick, heavy liner is a thing of the past. It tends to make the eyes look smaller and heavier and also settles into lines and wrinkles (especially when using a liquid). Pencil liner works best, dotted into the base of the lash line using light strokes. Then use a cotton swab or small liner brush to smudge the dots into a line that gets slightly thicker and pulls up at the outer corner for a bit of a lift.

Smudge-Proof Mascara

Mascara is important to avoid a tired and droopy look, as many women tend to lose their eyelashes as they get older and thus lose that wide-eyed look that lashes can create. Use a mascara that is water-resistant (not waterproof -- it's difficult to remove and can make you lose even more of your precious lashes). Also, look for a mascara with a small brush that will grab all the little hairs in the lash line and extend them as much as possible.
