A wig and spectacles can disguise your appearance.

Disguising your face can be deceptively easy if all you want to do is hide it from the public or create a new character for a play. However, if you plan to avoid facial-detection software, that is a different matter. Simple fixes can trick the eye into seeing your new look, but facial software concentrates on the area you rarely think about disguising -- the lower portion of your face. This article concentrates on disguising your face for legitimate uses, such as costumes, theater and holiday events, through the use of different props.

Contour your facial features with makeup to look older, younger or change the face visually. Create a thinner face with high cheek bones by applying dark blush below the bone or you can draw thicker brows with a black eye liner pencil and then add a beauty mark. Slenderize your lips with dark lip liner while caking on makeup under the eyes and at the corners to give crow's feet, a sign of aging.

Disguise your eyes. Wear a pair of dark sunglasses that hide part of your face, or wear a faux pair of prescription glasses with dark heavy frames that draw attention from your face. You also can insert color contact lenses to change your eye color.

3

Grow hair on your face. The shape of the beard can minimize your jaw line altering the appearance of your face while a mustache becomes a focal point for the eye. Draw in a mustache with black eye liner pencil if you prefer to remain clean shaven.

4

Get an asymmetrical haircut with bangs that fall over one side of your face. Asymmetrical hair cuts contain unequal lengths on both sides, with one side longer than the other. This keeps one portion of your face hidden from view and skews your facial shape.

5

Wrap a scarf around the lower portion of your face. Cover your chin, up to your lip, if weather permits this subterfuge. This disguises the lower portion of your face from view.

6

Wear a hat pulled down low on your forehead. Pull the cap down so that part of your face is obscured and hidden from view. Combine this with sunglasses and a scarf for a total disguise.

Tips & Warnings

Combine several of these together.

Temporary dye can change your hair color.

Wear your hair down to cover more of your face.

Do not attempt these suggestions for illegal purposes.
